Stocks futures are trying to climb this morning following sharp declines in Asia overnight.
S&P 500 futures are down by less than 0.2 percent, cutting earlier losses in half. European indexes are mostly negative but have been gaining in the last 30 minutes. Commodities are following.
The big move overseas occurred in Shanghai, where curbs on real estate development triggered a 3.6 percent selloff. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 1.5 percent. The Japanese Nikkei, however, climbed 0.4 percent and touched its highest level since September 2008.
